Social Media Shows Human Nature

Social media shows the nature of people in real time. You post good positive news about young people getting accepted in all the Ivy league schools or building million dollar companies and you get a few likes.

You post a Worldstar video of stupid teenagers beating up an elderly person you get hundreds of comments, likes, and scores of shares.

What is it about human nature that is riveted by bad news and bored by good stories? Hhhhhhhm?

Let a Man Be a Man

Nice beautiful Christian ladies sometimes you gotta let a man be a man. I know you're all about Spiritual relationship with Christ, nurturing, and forgiving. I get that.

But God put us here to provide and PROTECT. Sometimes you gotta get outta of a Christian bruthas way and let him kick some ar$e! That is all.

Handling Monsters

Sometimes to beat a monster you have to become a monster. Idealized metaphysics will not do. Monsters do not easily back down.

Sometimes we don't feel good about it. But we get to survive and enlighten ourselves and evolve soulfully another day.

Muslims Raise Money to Rebuild Burnt Down Black Churches

This is very encouraging. Muslim persons and charities are helping to raise funds to rebuild recently burned Black churches. I wonder if the shoe was on the other foot would Black Churches help them? Hhhhhmm?

Any way this shows that people can look beyond religious divisions in this country and have empathy towards other faith or belief systems. I say to our Muslim brothers and sisters thank you for reaching out and trying to heal racial hate.

Much Respect to Single Moms

Much respect to the single moms out there. Be encouraged and have a nice weekend.

Becoming a single dad myself has given me a deep appreciation for all you do to keep our children and families together.

It is a full time job with many challenges but yet you RISE to the occasion.
May God bless you and keep you strong and patient. Society and civilization couldn't make it without you!

Overcoming Adversity

I've launched two businesses with no money using free library computers. But you have to be very resourceful. Being hungry and homeless sucks.

If you've been there you'd truly understand what I'm saying.  Being hungry can push you to excel.

Conservatives and Skewed Responsibility

You know what kills me about conservatives? They always telling blacks to stop assigning blame and take responsibility for our actions.

But this terrorist thug kills 9 people in Church and it is Obama's fault! How about taking some personal responsibility when it comes to racism. Obama is their scape goat.

Class distinction in the The Black Middle Community and  Social Unrest

All Black people don't riot over police brutality or social injustice.  Naw middle class blacks don't riot. Middle class blacks own homes and businesses in their community. The will not riot and destroy their own property.   It's about ownership.

Blacks in poorer areas will riot because they are renting, don't own most of the businesses, and just aren't vested in their communities to the same extent. The Black community isn't monolithic.

Middle class blacks will do a political or economic riot. They'll vote in new political leaders and the Churches will rally and do economic development. It's a whole different dynamic responding to inequality with the Black middle class.

Hating the Top 1% of Wealthy Persons in the US

I don't hate the 1%. Most of us work for the 1% and they help us make a living. But also John we should all reflect that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and many of the world's top billionaires are coming together with charities and putting their vast wealth to help people in poorer countries or regions of the world.

Now some would say that they don't need to do it. But reading what some of them are saying is it will make people in less developed places more capable of being consumers of products and services by raising their standard of living. They see it as enlightened self interest to make the world a better place.

This is another reason I don't hate anyone based on being in a higher class. I feel I can do more good by being successful. And more people feel that way than we give them credit for in this world. 

The Confederate Flag

study your history and examine the symbolism of the flag. People under it fought to try to keep Blacks enslaved. They kicked the crap out of the north until about 100,000 black men joined the Union Army and helped turn the tide of the war.

Lincoln's executive order the Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in much of the south except in the prison industry complex. What was done after that was the south kept many Blacks in slavery by incarcerating them in high numbers which is a practice done even today. Look at the high incarceration rates in the south of Blacks and you will see slavery still exists albeit in another form.

Now tell me you want the legislative bodies and legal institutions in the south with Confederate Flags on them - not good. You may know some very civil and nice people with Confederate Flags tattoos but you don't what those flags on the state legislative bodies or courts trust me. Not a good thing.

Bruce becomes Caitlyn Jenner

A Little Levity

Has the world gone crazy? One of the greatest male athletes in history is now living the life of a woman. 

I even hear there is a rumor about a BIG cosmetic contract being on the horizon for Caitlyn Jenner? Yarn, boring, who cares?

What I really want to know is if I can beat Caitlyn in arm wrestling now? Hhhhmmm?

I would have never challenged Bruce Jenner one of the greatest athletes in the history of the world to arm wrestling. LOL!

A Little More Levity

Bruce Jenner AKA Caitlyn Jenner is really a smart cookie.  She or he (I'm so confused) waited to well into his or her 60s to have a gender change.  Wow!  Women live 7 years longer than men so this may have been good as far as extending Caitlyn's longevity.

And it doesn't escape me that Bruce waited until he loved up some beautiful women before he made his change.  Hhhhhmmm?  This proves to me woman are just much more attractive and desirable than men.  Bruce knew the deal. LMBO!

Bruce may be a very brave guy too.  I don't know all the medical issues involved.  But if it involves cutting off your private parts awwwwwww hell naw and ouch!  Just the thought of it makes me queasy and faint.  Ugggghhhh!  Swoon faint....

But Being a bit more Serious

A big media issue that I've found both ironic and interesting today is the controversial issue of Bruce Jenner's sex change to become Caitlyn Jenner.  Of course the comments I've read in social media range from "he's weird" to "he's selfish for exposing his children and grandchildren" to this confusing state of affairs.

And of course fundamental religious types are just caustic in their critiques. They can't help themselves from doing one of their little sermonettes.

What I find so compelling is one of the greatest male athletes of all time has the soul of a woman. Wow! How ironic and interesting.

I'm not into judging people. But what I will say is one of the greatest things you can teach your children and grandchildren "is to be true to yourself."

Are Our Elected Officials Impotent Addressing Police Misconduct?

I dunno I think at some point we have to realize the judicial system and law enforcement are operating on their own set of rules. The police unions have great power.

The judicial system and law enforcement are almost acting like an autonomous de facto government with their own set of rules. The City mayors and even the President of the United States himself seem powerless to change them or make them accountable.

The judicial and law enforcement matrix have rendered the electoral process impotent in respect to Black people. We have no rights the judicial powers that be and law enforcement "are bound to respect."

President Obama makes one little marginal statement questioning police culture and he gets torn a new one and falls back. Judges, DA's and police unions are doing whatever the hell they want in this country and elected officials can't back them down. Welcome to the police state.

De Blasio is elected to stop "Stop and Frisk" in NYC to a large extent. All the man does is try to get everyone to the table to talk. The police literally turn their backs on him.

His freakin Commissioner goes to Albany and is lobbying so that any person "resisting arrest" could be facing like 20 years. This is under the auspices of some politician voted in to turn around over aggressive policing.

I guess they pulled him in a room and told him who's really the boss running the show. More Black elected officials than ever before, an African American President and police brutality is more in your face than ever before.

The same crap I worked as an activist to stop 30 years ago. It's even more brazen. You can have a Black man choked to death on camera or shot in the back and nothing happens

A cop can shoot into a crowd without looking and kill a sista same crap - no repercussions.

Same crap for 50 years with 3 times the black elected officials.
he police are a de facto government beyond the law. It's freakin police state. A we're largely in denial about it. It's time to wake up.

That's been our mantra politically for 30 years. We've elected Black politicians in positions of power. But the killings persist. SMH

Incorporate Self Defense
into Your Workout

Maybe it's just me but guys rather than going to the gym and just spending countless hours lifting weights and cardio incorporate some self defense training into your routine. Self defense is very practical and needed to help you survive.

I think if more positive bruthas who are about community development and advancement learned things like Filipino or Indonesian Combat systems we could help collectively make our neighborhoods safer. IJS

When You're Perpetually Single
Introspection may be in Order

At the risk of being boycotted by pretty online woman whenever I see a beautiful woman over 40 who isn't married I do take pause.  Let's face it pretty women get stepped to by men all the time - 24/7.

They have the pick of the litter with men. Men of all social incomes try to rap to them.

It doesn't take a pretty, fit, amiable, and smart woman decades to find a suitable dude. It takes them like a few weeks.

You mean a beautiful woman gets approached by at least hundreds of times a year and all the men are duds? Are All these guys losers?

Nope, I can't go with that. In my experience of dealing with a lot of the pretty ladies I see in social media they are looking for Mr. Perfect. Jesus if he wanted would have a hard time getting a date.

Maybe if Jesus came back with an MBA, Beamer, Armani suit and Warren Buffet's investment portfolio he might be datable with some of these sistas. And even then he might get dissed and dismissed. SMH

We have to do some introspection. I'm not married but was for 15 years. I have interest from women but I know I'm very picky plus I have a child who wouldn't be an easy match with many women.

So I know I have ish. We have to be honest with ourselves and the dynamics impacting our ability to have relationships.

Blacks have a level of Empowerment but Our Cities Still Burn with Disillusionment

Ya know I tried to be quiet about the riots. I can't afford to get into long debates about it when I need to focus on other things.

But many of our young people are angry, hurt, and outraged that despite all our progress economically and politically in this country their lives "don't matter" squat to the legal system except to provide cheap and slave labor.

I didn't see all this brutha did and I hope he didn't hurt someone. But they're setting him up for life in prison.

Dayyuuum! We got an African American President and Mayor of Baltimore but Black lives don't mean squat apparently if you pay attention to the headlines.

Oh the irony. He smashes things goes to jail perhaps for decades or life. But law enforcement shots people in the back, into crowds without looking, brutalize people and no repercussions. Riots aren't the answer but I understand the frustration.

Yesterday a young man on a city bus was going to get into an altercation with a bus driver. It could have been a real Worldstar Hip Hop kinda ugly moment.

Thank God people didn't just pullout cell phones to video the confrontation. Actually, women blocked him from hitting the driver. They told him to calm down. He had his boo and baby with him.

I put my hand on the young man's shoulder. And asked him why he was so irate. He explained to me why and I understood his rage with the bus driver.

Then I explained if he attacks the bus driver the police will arrest him and he'll be another brotha in jail while his queen and baby have to try to make it without him.

I said "we don't need another father and brutha in prison or jail, we need father's taking care of their children. I told him strong men look at the bigger picture." The whole time I had my hand on his shoulder talking calmly to cool him down.

My point is some of us older brothas may have to get out here beyond our comfort zones and talk about love, family, community, and the bigger picture with empathy. IJS

A Little Child Shall Lead them In Inspiration

Truly Inspiring Children with Challenges who Challenge and Inspire Us

No matter how well you plan your life there are the times when, let's face it - things look grim. You are just inches from down right despair and nothing seems to be working out well.

Doing those times it is good to be reminded that no matter how bad we feel about our situation be grateful because there is someone else in a worst situation.  If we have our health and conscious faculities we should be grateful and thank God for one more day to persevere.

In this life most of us can't afford the luxury of self-pity or even self-doubt.  If we want to change our situation we'll have to be our greatest success warriors.  God  must know that we become stronger with adversities and overcoming the vicissitudes of life.

Fear, short comings, and disabilities shouldn't straddle us on the side lines of life.  In this life we have to push our limits and launch out into the deep beyond our comfort zones to reach our full potential.

We have to become more like little children again with a sense of optimism.  We have to believe in God and the natural powers of the universe to respond in an empowering way to our gifts - uplift our promise!

A child's naiveté about what is possible is actually sometimes a good thing.  I realize that you should do your research and study as much as possible before getting involved in a serious endeavor like a business or political move.  However, I've always benefited by not knowing all the nuances and details about a endeavor, like a child - and just jumping into a challenge.  Sure you fall or stumble, like a child learning to walk or a kid becoming skilled at skateboarding.

But these are invaluable lessons to help you move forward in life.

Let the example of an adventurous child lead you and you will become a leader to others in your life's journey.  You may not have sturdy legs, but learn to run the race of life by building the tools to compete any way.  Yes...

"A Little Child Shall Lead Them.  No matter how handicapped you may feel. Get in the Race, Don't Sit on the Sidelines! And most of ALL Don't give UP!
