On Warriors, Activists, Friends, and Failures - Kamau's Qu!ps.

Great Warriors must 1st learn to conquer the battles within them ~

Activist and people looking to right historic social wrongs must remember that it is hard to move in a forward positive direction if you can't move beyond the negative injustices of the past ~

Strength isn't developed in a vacuum.  It is created through tension and forged in resistance ~

Failure is a great training tool for success if you learn from it. Yet there are times failure isn't an experience you can afford~

Family and great friendships can survive disagreements, disappointments, and differences. Great love can repair any torn or frayed relationship ~

To increasing know God is to increasingly trust God. After spending some time getting to know God I can truly say Faith in God is Faith well placed ~

Balance in life is so necessary but so hard to achieve ~

I find sometimes life can be so challenging that just meditating & focusing on the presence of God can heal us & the situation ~

How to Deal with the Loss of Your Mom During Mother's Day

Spiritual Sista's Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day is a joyous and important day to celebrate the most important person in many of our lives our mothers or mother figures.  Unfortunately, for many of us Mother's Day reminds of us that our moms are no longer with us.

How do we deal with the fact that our beloved mother's are no longer with us? What do we do to keep from feeling depressed, sad, and lonely on Mother's Day?

My good Facebook friend of mine Bernice Bright Dickey, a brilliant educator and author in the field of grief management was kind enough to share some of her grief management insights. Bernice lost her husband and oldest daughter in a tragic automobile accident years ago so she knows a great amount about dealing with grief and great loss.

Ms. Dickey, was able to hold on to her faith in God during such a painful and challenging time.  She writes about her coping strategies and faith insights in her book "My #1 is Still My #1!" She stresses as her most salient strategy: "put God 1st in your life!" Checkout what Bernice had to say about dealing with the loss of your mother during Mother's Day...

You will need more of God's Grace, not more strength during this difficult journey through bereavement - TRUST ME! When we are weak, HE IS STRONG!

Let God carry y'all through this season of FIRSTS (Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays, graduations, etc.) and don't try to be strong or put on a facade! Allow the tears to flow until flooding, God's got all of y'all in His bosom let Him comfort you and your family!

There's no need for y'all to front for each other either, grief is personal, but it shouldn't be private amongst family members! Talk about it!

It's on everyone's mind anyways and talking about it takes away the loneliness and isolation you're feeling by keeping your feelings to yourself! CRY! LAUGH! CREATE NEW MEMORIES!

All in the name of your loved one who is gone, but never absent from your heart, mind and thoughts! For more encouragement for your grief journey, buy my book "My #1 Is Still My #1" at www.bernicebrightdickey.com
