Beyond Beat Down Parenting in the Black Community

You know I hear a lot about the virtues of ole school corporal punishment and strict discipline within the Black community as being the gold standard in child raising. But what is ironic to me is when I look for a support group for children with challenges they are always on the other side of town.

We rarely have support, network, or event groups of Black parents in our community for children with special needs. Also how often do we show up to PTA meetings? Some of us are so ready to beat our kids down but how often to we get involved in groups to lift our children up? Hhhmmm?

I guess I'm going have to start an autism networking and event group in my community. Everything else that usually happens I notice is on the other side of town.
